Our Rehab Team
Our physical, occupational, and speech therapists plan an important role in the design of therapy programs and work in conjunction with the nursing staff to ensure that gains made in therapy are carried out throughout the day.

A central tenet of rehabilitation is teamwork, and the patient and family make up the most important part of that team. Our goal is to return our patients to their homes as quickly and safely as possible, and this requires communication among all staff involved in patient care. Family involvement in therapy sessions is also important whenever possible. This helps ensure that those assisting in the transition home have the necessary skills and education to make that transition successful.

Physical and Occupational Therapy
In our inpatient programs, patients are re-learning skills that were lost through illness and injury. These physical therapy skills may include learning how to walk, how to get in and out of bed, and climbing up and down stairs. Some occupational therapy skills taught include bathing and dressing independently, learning to use the bathroom safely, transferring into the bath tub for showers, and home management, including cooking.

To encourage independence, patients are involved in other forms of social interaction through group activities and dining in a common area. Other features you will discover include our well-equipped gym, which is the setting for many of the activities of therapy. This gym also includes an adjacent kitchen and bathroom designed to simulate a home environment. Our therapists use this area to replicate real-life situations and teach patients the skills necessary for a safe discharge home.

Speech-Language Therapy Services
Language/Cognition
Comprehensive cognitive-linguistic evaluation and therapy services are available for patients who have suffered a stroke or brain injury or experienced neurologic disease affecting these areas. Therapy is designed to improve receptive-expressive language skills, speech production, voice production and cognitive functioning for daily living.

Videofluorographic swallow evaluations are performed on-site through a mobile service with radiologist.
